Black Jack is one of the simplest of poker games to learn and play. The basic idea to the game is to get as close to 21 as you can without going over. However there are many rules and other things that can be done to get to 21 and win. It may also differ depending on if you are playing at home with your friends or at a casino.
At the casino all the players must try and get as close to 21 as possible while beating the dealer. Whereas at home you all play against each other and the closest one wins. The way it is played is that each player is dealt one card facing down and one card facing up. The player to the left of the dealer will start, they can either hit, which means get another card, or they can stay with what they have. The hit card is dealt face up. If the card facing up goes over 21 that player busts and loses however if it is below they have the option to hit again or stay. One way you can win is with a 5 card Charlie. How this works is that if you combine the hidden card with 4 face up cards if the total of all 5 cards is less than 21 you win. Another way is to get a perfect 21. Now as far as the name of the game you can get a Blackjack, which means that you are dealt an Ace card which is valued at 1 or 11 and a card that is valued at 10 so that 10 and 11 make 21.
One of the things you can do with the cards is that you can split them. If you are dealt two identical cards such as two 8’s you can split them and try for 21 two different times. You can also double down which means you double your bid and get only one card if you go above 21 you lose it all if you get close to 21 and win you get double the money. If you are playing in a casino you may also have the option of surrendering. What this means is that you forfeit half of your bid and keep the other half while sitting out of this hand.
This way of playing is done at home with friends as well as at the casino the only difference is that at the casino each player can win as long as they beat the dealer whereas at home with friends you have to beat each other and the winner takes all. Unless of course you decide to designate a dealer that does not take place in the hand then you would go by the same rules as in the casino. So whether its Black Jack, Twenty-one, or Vingt-et-un your still playing the same game under a different name with the same rules.
